some people are just so dirty minded. :D few days ago i was hanging around the clayboard. there was this thread. find words that cannot be linked back to clay. so i put in my input. "banana". cos i saw a dancing banana emotioncon. ok? so, yesterday, i went back to the thread. and people were like "mezzogal, don't even think of going there."
lol! 2 years of shakespheare and donne and i totally understand what they're thinking. muahahahahaha!!!!!! i can't stop laughing.

meanwhile, surfing around. found the translation those hebrew(?) words from 'when you believe'. so beautiful. trying to find the mp3 of this version.
Ashira l'Adonai ki gaoh ga-ah
Ashira l'Adonai ki gaoh ga-ah
Michamocha baelim Adonai
Michamocha nedar bakodesh
Nachita v'chas-d'cha am zu ga-alta
Nachita v'chas-d'cha am zu ga-alta
Ashira ashira ashira...
I will sing unto Adonai for He has triumphed gloriously
I will sing unto Adonai for He has triumphed gloriously
Who is like You, O Adonai, among the gods?
Who is like You, glorious in holiness?
In Your mercy, you lead the people You redeemed.
In Your mercy, you lead the people You redeemed.
I will sing, I will sing, I will sing...

great day.
yesterday was a great day. first day out in ages. so it's gonna be a long post :D firstly, there's a new pope. pope benedict 16. not that it means that much to me though. to me, the pope is just a figure up there in rome. *shrugs*
anyway, went to duan hui's house first. first time been there. her house front door is weird. it's got statues of two chinese lions outside. in all my time of knocking on doors, this is the absolute first time i saw a hdb house with statues of lions on the outside. bit bizarre. but very unique. anyway, the 3 of us were there, chit chatting, hanging out. tried to teach duan hui how to play canon with 2 hands. well, a bit of a success. but she keep refusing to look at the score while playing. so had to tell her the chords everytime they changed. :) it was ok i guess. for someone who can't read music, it was great. cos there was no score for the left hand. me and sumi had to teach her how to play from chords. rather, sumi taught her the chords, i taught them the timing. i knew my church organ training would come in useful someday. looked at her baby photos. couldn't recognise her in some. something interesting i saw on her wall. years ago i gave her a pic of clay aiken that i tore out of lime. she still keeps that pic and she tacked it on the wall. cool! then, we went through all her vcd collection and borrowed some. i borrowed 'spirited away'. but can't watch it cos the tv with the vcd player is spoilt. :P
then, went to sumi's place cos her doggy was alone at home. nino was so excited to see us. me especially. he kept wanting to chew my toes. serious. i must remember to always wear long pants to sumi's place. we had to cook our own lunch. we found oxtail soup from campbells. and macaroni. but duan hui couldn't eat beef so sumi thought, we'd make some rice for her and the grandma. so there we were. 3 mostly clueless people in the kitchen. me was struggling with the stupid can. something about the can opener refused to stay and open the can properly. then, prepared the vegetables. carrots, potato, cabbage. almost cut my finger trying to skin the crazy potato with the knife. (sumi doesn't have a peeler)
then, banged my head on the open cupboard door that i didn't know was open. :p but, still alive. and the food was ok. the fried potato and carrot was mostly burnt. so poor duan hui ended up eating plain rice with scrambled egg. the egg turned out ok but really really oily. sumi put too much oil in it. but, we survived.
then watched 'a few good men'. gosh i love that movie. the trial scenes were especially powerful. the themes of honour and duty were so strong. those 2 guys were willing to go to jail for life than to dishonour themselves. love tom cruise's line "you don't need a badge on your arm to have honour". something like that. these type of powerful law movies just get to me somehow. anyway, that movie was taped long long long ago. i know cos there was the advert for david copperfield's 'portal' during the advertisements. sumi was going like "hey, the guy you like leh!", nudging me. (i used to have a huge crush on david copperfield) haha! looked at sumi's baby photos. those 2 were arguing about who was cuter when they were kids. really. some people never grow up. :D
went home and watched american idol. not bad. 70s dance theme. i notice this season has lots of period themes. noticed also that there were only 2 gals left in the competition. which confirmed my opinion that the guys are the better singers in this season. a guy is going to be the next american idol. antony federov was not bad. i enjoyed his song last night. love his vocals. wish i could sing like that. (haha! not in a billion years) scott sang 'everlasting love', same thing clay did during disco night in his time. comparing the 2, clay's was better. more powerful. scott's a great singer but i think he's better for ballads. i predict that scott's going to be in the bottom 3 again this week. he wasn't doing too well, not just comparing with clay. his voice just wasn't that power lah. anwar sang the same song taufik sang "september". except that taufik was more impressive. those high falsetto parts. taufik sang those cos singapore idol didn't provide them with background vocalists. anwar let the background vocalists sing those high parts. which was a pity cos those were the impressive parts. anyway, had a good laugh last night cos they were showing clips of them trying to dance. everybody was doing the finger thing (saturday night fever thing). that's a classic move. some of them just could not dance. but then, from someone who has 2 left feet, i better shut up. :D

This is worth a chuckle...
IN THE BEGINNING... In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the earth with broccoli and cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?" And Man said "Yea, " and Woman said, "and another one with sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds
And God created the healthful yogurt that woman might keep the figure that man found so fair.
And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And woman went from size 6 to size 14.
So God said, "Try my fresh green salad."
And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing and garlic toast on the side. And man and woman unfastened their belts following the repast.
God than said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them."
And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed it's own platter. And man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof.
God then brought running shoes so that his children might loose those extra pounds.
And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And man and woman laughed and cried before the flickering light and gained pounds.
Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition.
And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And man gained pounds.
God then gave lean beef so that man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite.
And Satan created McDonald's and it's 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said "You want fries with that?" and man replied, "Yea ! and super size 'em." And Satan said "It is good." And man went into cardiac arrest.
God sighed -- and created quadruple bypass surgery.
Then Satan created HMOs.

it's the end of a chapter
well, i've left the job. long story that i'm not going to put here just now.
yes, i guess i do feel a bit bad leaving like that. people there have been nice to me. really nice. people like ryan, ashley, even lee. but this job's not really for me. i'm dying everyday on the field.
ah well, things happen. we'll just take things one at a time. handle it as it comes.
goodbye juice asia. thanks for all the memories.

first week at work
well, i finally finished one week at work. phew. i guess it's ok. kinda mixed feelings about it.
for those who don't know. i'm working for a marketing company, juice/dynamic asia marketing. in nice words, i'm a marketing agent. in not so nice way, i'm a door to door salesgirl. sigh. actually...how to explain the job...well, the main client is scotts 37 cafe. celebrating their anniversary. i think they're trying to raise awareness of their cafe so they're offering this privilege card. the $10 for the card, part goes to the promised land missions. which is juice's adopted charity. so no matter what, juice will give promised land $60000. but i think they trying to offset this cost by selling the card. don't know the working behind the system tho.
let's go through my first week. first day was not too bad. went out with ryan's team. sold one booklet. good thing. learnt a lot from ryan and joanne. duh, i mean, he's the one who started teaching me the pitch etc. then didn't see him for the rest of the week. MIA lah. but he called the first 2 days to ask how my sales went. sweet. i heard that he's coming back on mon. joanne was the one who took me around and guided me on my first day. rescuing me whenever i met chinese speaking aunties. my chinese just cannot make it lah.
then went with desmond. also taught me a lot. seriously. cos that day was pure advertising. no more charity. some problems with authorisation. so i was real depressed cos we went to so many blocks already and not even one sale. wanted to cry. and it was raining so hard, we had to stop selling. he was trying to cheer me up, motivating me on.
then, with ashley and siti. not bad. again, ashley was great at trying to cheer me up, cos i was so depressed from the day before. i was so depressed that even when i was queueing up to buy lunch, i so felt like crying. going out with shawn next day was great. showing me how we can have fun on the field as well. can't say exactly what fun on the field we had in case alfred or lee reads this. me and shawn would be in shit. but we did do our work that day lah. (btw, alfred is the ceo of juice asia and lee is the head of dynamic asia. want to know more, ask me.)
today going with kenneth and vishnu. went to private estate. that's why i'm so sunburnt today. great day today. got back the charity letter so can use a bit of charity when trying to get people to part with their money. of course there were some idiots who just don't want to give. crazy. can't understand them. we were at 6th avenue area. rich man area. some idiots can't bear to even part with $10. curse and swear. but definately learnt a bit about making multiple sales. someone signed a check for $50 for me. vishnu was really good. his first day and already he managed to sell one full booklet in one sale. woah.
saw goh chok tong's house today. bloody big sia. omg! even got sentry guards, barbed wire and surveillance cameras there. we were saying, we should ask if we can knock there. surely can clear all our booklets. :D but don't think the sentry will even let us through the door. not even sure if goh chok tong is in singapore.
so ya. despite all the horrible torture, it's actually quite fun. get to meet all sorts of people. if working the blocks made me lose all hope in human nature, working the pte estates helped to regain a little bit of that hope. i do have fun on the job, on the field. i love the company. it's just so dynamic and fun. energy is so high. learnt so much about communication and stuff. pushing myself out of my comfort zone, especially after making a sale, feels so great. i mean, if you told me before this that i'll be knocking on people's doors (literally. some people have no door bells) and yelling to people from the gate, i'll say you're crazy. and yet, i'm doing this every freaking day. nuts.
but. the downside is that it's really difficult and can get so depressing if no one wants to buy. and it's tiring. imagine climbing around the HDB blocks everyday. average of 15 floors and 6-12 houses on each level. tiring. and supposed to end work at 6.30pm. yes, end work. then go back to the office to return the money, id tags, ticket stubs...by that time 7 plus already. by the time get home, easily 8. sigh. really tired. i worked all this week, i only earned $30. i'm paid on commission. no sale, no pay. sigh. and duan hui's not doing on weekdays anymore. just saturdays. so i'll not exactly have company. not that i had her company on the field anyway. company would never team me up with her.
but, i tell you, i'm gonna quit sooner or later. i think that i'll finish this week, get my pay and disappear. it'll be a relief. but at the same time, i wonder if i'm cheating myself of a great chance at doing something with myself. i mean, like ashley told me, the larger part of your mind tells you to quit, get another job...but there's this little part of your mind that tells you that maybe you can overcome this challenge, maybe you can do it. that's kinda why i'm still considering when i wanted to quit. actually i wanted to tell lee that i'm leaving today. but... and i do love the company culture. :D
clifford just told me that his company's doing recruiting. maybe i'll try out. but i'll hang on to dynamic for this week and see how. but i definately will quit by the end of april. can't take it anymore. too tiring.

clifford just told me that his company's doing recruiting. maybe i'll try out. but i'll hang on to dynamic for this week and see how. but i definately will quit by the end of april. can't take it anymore. too tiring.

the good, the bad, and the funny
good thing: i got the job. something about yellow ribbon project. liase with the public or something. training session on monday. anyway, there is now a decrease in singapore's unemployment rate. heeheehee! out of the 6 billion people on earth, god does hear my prayers.
funny thing: me and duan hui went to contact lens fair. each of us got a free pair of lenses to try. i got O2 optic. which wasn't that great. she got focus dailies. then she saw acuvue. the one that can wear to new york. so she got a trial lens from there too. she removed the focus dailies ones. tried the acuvue. then decided that she don't like acuvue. want back the focus dailies. have to 'return' the acuvue lens. kinda wasted cos they throw it away anyway, why not let the customer keep it. problem was that the sales person accidently threw the focus dailies away. she thought the saline didn't contain any lenses. ended up she gave duan hui a free pair of one day acuvue. haha!
not-so-great thing: daddy's removed the tv from my room. apparently he claims that mummy says that andrew says that he wants to watch tv while he does the threadmill. and the only tv small enough and supposedly available is mine. *rolls eyes* sigh. i want my tv back. so now i'm campaigning to get it back. hopefully it comes back to me. (i sound desperate. haha!)
bad thing: i got scolding from mummy cos apparently i didn't tell her there wasn't choir practice tonight. and cos i apparently seemed to show attitude when andrew asked for help with maths. and cos i don't want to follow them to novena.
interesting thing: i'm surfing on the clay board. there's a thread about pope john paul II. may not be entirely accurate but... http://p213.ezboard.com/ftheclayboardfrm11.showMessage?topicID=64612.topic interesting thing is that the clay board isn't exactly catholic yet they're showing such levels of concern and care for the pope. hmm...
frustrating thing: i'm removing music from my blog for a while cos i suspect that something about the music makes my comp hang. -_-
oh well, cruel crazy beautiful world.
